People Escape War-Torn City
Many people have left the city of Oleshky in Ukraine. The city was taken by Russia two years ago. Some people who left called their experience in Oleshky 'hell'.
The city is near the Dnipro River and is surrounded by Russian soldiers. Food was scarce, and people risked stepping on mines to find food. A recent ceasefire allowed some residents to leave. Hundreds of people, including children, were evacuated to northern Ukraine.
The evacuees arrived in Chernihiv and were reunited with family. They are now looking for new homes and jobs. One woman said, 'If we managed to survive in hell, we'll survive here too.'
